Blessed in what way Titus?

I don't remember us being set aside for any special privledges other than being born at the right place at the right time.

There has always be "givers" and "takers" throughout history.
The best that we can hope for is that the numbers will balance out.

Blessed in not experiencing the bone crunching poverty. Being born at the right place and the right time is part of that blessing.

If you're hoping that the 'numbers balance out' I believe you will be disappointed. At least on a global scale. But it should lead to the question - Which am I?

Dave,,,the numbers aren't balancing out..The gap between the haves and have-nots is growing..And this is on a global scale..

When I first arrived in Vientiane in 2004 one rarely saw a beggar and very few prestige cars,,motorbikes ruled the streets..

Now in 2008 more beggars and more prestige cars and I'm talking Mercedes, BMW, a few Hummers etc..Now bikes and cars are 50-50..In 2004 80% bikes..

That's what I would expect yogestee. I think we are seeing the same direction in the US. It's just not as pronounced. Yet. I was just laughing about the folks complaining about $4.00/gallon gas while sucking on a $56.00/gallon latte. Oh, we have it tough...not.

I have to admit that these kids seem to be amazingly happy.

I don't drink 6 gallons of latte per day travelling too and from work. This type of argument is very narrow minded when you completely ignore quantities used. Bottled water costs more than gasoline, but again... usage.

I admit it, I'm very narrow minded.

Maybe you should live closer to your work.

When I'm retired I'll get to make comments like this as well.

You can make them now if you would like....

But I was also driving a long way to work and finally gave up the country home and moved closer to my office - long before I retired. We are looking at moving back out now.

We get to make choices in this life. Where you live and how far you are willing to drive are a couple of them. So your burning 6 gallons of gas a day is because of the vehicle you choose to drive and the distance you choose to live from your office.

A big part of the problem are all those folks trying to tell others how to live. We call them limousine liberals.

I recall watching a show on Animal Planet about a group of USA activitists in the South Pacific trying to hamper
some villagers in their choice of hunted food, a food source for eons.
I was redeemed however when the activists almost became the food source.

Do not presume to tell me how to live and I will return the favor.
