Hi, brand new to this forum. I'm have a Powershot SD950 IS Digital Elph 12 mega pixels. I'm having trouble taking pictures of my little grand-daughters. If they move the picture is fuzzy. When I shoot the picture, it seems to take a long time before it takes the picture. I'm using the Kids and pets setting. I'm also using a SanDisk Extreme III flashcard. Am I doing something wrong. I would think that this camera would be able to take a picture without being fuzzy . As soon as I can figure out how to resize my picture, I'll attach it to this.

Bikinicenter - I would be very interested to know how to do that on an SD camera. I don't think it is possible but would be pleased if I am wrong.

Excuse me? The max shutter of this camera is 1/1600 sec. Change the mode to TV and choose a fast shutter.

None of the SD series offer any means of directly controlling the shutter speed or aperture. In some modes, you can set EC and you can set ISO, but that's about it. This is also true of the A-series models before the A570 and A590.

To OP - I assume this is inside? Is your flash turned on? Try setting IS to "Continuous". It will use a bit more power, but the IS won't have to "warm up" before you can take a picture (it takes a second or two for the gyros to spin up). You might also try setting the drive mode to "Continuous" and shooting a couple of frames. And post a couple of sample shots, with the camera's shooting information (EXIF data), which you'll be able to see in Zoom Browser or other photo viewing/editing programs.

Cryforashadow , anyone who uses a Canon SD camera knows that you can not manually change the shutter speed. From your "Excuse me" post I presume that you have never used an SD at all.

Even some of us who haven't used an SD know it! (All right, yes, I bought one for my camera-phobe wife to take to Jordan and Egypt.)

Okay, I haven't used an SD, I just had no idea you can't change the shutter speed in some cameras.

Hi, I have the SD800 and at first my grandkids on the move pix in kids and pets mode were coming out blurry and my husband brought to my attn. that I was moving while shooting. You need to be still or you will get camera shake that the IS can't take care of.
