Hi all,

Since few weeks now, I'm facing lots of issues with my 350D/XT like:

- The LCD screen which still display informations (Speed, aperture...) but the camera dos not respond when pressing any button, the camera is like feezed :confused:;

- The number of remaining pictures to be taken on the CF, displays from times to times 800 (by example), then 999 after few shoots. So it was supposed to decreased under 800, but this is not the case, it has been increased to the maximum than can be displayed with my 350D/XT screen (I was using a 4Go CF for info);

- The remaining battery bar, is now very often displaying empty battery, even if battery are full (fully charged before, and they are Canon ones).
To solve that I switch off the camera and I remove the battery rack of the Grip BGE-3 (Official Canon one) and re-insert it. Then switch on the camera and it works. But this issue often often now. I have to perform this manipulation lot of time when I'm out for shooting.

Does any of you already had that kind of problem ?
If yes what do you advice ?
I already clean the connectors of my battery grip, but this does not solve the issue.

Thanks in advance for all of you, fore reading and for your imput.
Regards,
Laurent.

I have experienced "freezing" issues with my 350D, Canon eventually put it down to dirty contacts on top control knob but they had the camera 4 or 5 times and replaced a whole heap of stuff for free, so its hard to know.

Try the camera without the grip & see if the issue continues, if this does not resolve the problem, my only other suggestion is to send it in to Canon for a going over.

Ok thanks, I already removed the grip but this does not solve the issue.
About sending it to Canon, mine 350D is not under warranty anymore, so this will be over price I think.

Thanks for your help Mark ;-)a

Laurent.

How old is the battery? Being an old battery maybe the problems there.

In this case, if you are prepared to take a risk with your camera, get hold of some electrical "contact" cleaner in a spray can (in NZ, Aus & the states, CRC make a good one), carefully spray some into both sides of the control wheel while continually operating the wheel. If "dirty" contacts are the issue, this may solve it.
This is a picture of the offending item & it is possible to get debris down here.

Best of luck!

Two thoughts: You battery is faulty. You can also try resetting the camera - page 35 in the manual.

One 2 years old like the camera, and the second one is 1 year and a half.

But I only use a lot my camera this year. SO before I didn't recharge my batteries a lot. And I always recharge them when they're empty or almost.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I won't open my camera. May be I'll go to my local store...

I'll try that, I don't know if this may help in this case, but if this may help I'll give it a try tonight.

Thanks,
Laurent.
