Hi,

I recently took some pictures at a friends wedding and this photo is illustrative of one of the problems I encountered. The image is so soft it is almost out of focus (maybe it is). Shot with a Canon 30D, 28-135 kit lens, ISO 400/35 mm/f 3.5/1 1/80th. IS off. 580 EX II used with Demb filter. Flash on bracket. My wife does PP and when zoomed to 300% pixelation is awful. In the RAW it's somewhat better but still not good. I have removed PP from this image prior to exporting to JPG. Camera was in Manual, focuse was spot (center spot). Camera used is 30D. DOF calculator shows I should have had 3.9 Ft DOF. I also tried exporting in AdobeRGB, PhotoRGB and TIFF without change. All thoughts welcome.

Hmmm yes I agree. More specifically why is this photo so noisy? Is the image OOF or is the 28-135 not able to handle 400 ISO? Or is it something else altogether.

Thanks,
Fred

Why plague yourself with another variable in the equation? Eliminate the possibility of ISO. Set it to 100 and think no more of it.
