Would you buy the 40D kit and sell the 28-135?

Does anyone feel like the 40D kit may go down in price even more.

I know that to me that seems pretty unlikely (with the $200 off rebate).

Who knows... At some point, I'm sure it will, but my guess is this price will be the lowet for the next month or so, then may jump back up a bit and remain there through the summer...

Any new Camera announcements can cause a change in price as well.

My advice- don't worry about what you can't control.... If its worth it to you today at the current price, buy it!!!

(I got the body only).

Its 1118 from amazon right now but their site seems to be down, I bought one and sold the lens.

Yeah DELL home had it for $1120 but it is sold out (free shipping).

BH had it for $1155 shipped.

I just decided to get the 40D body only and pass on the selling lens deal.
Not sure why because I think I could've gotten a $50 profit at the LCS from the lens.

I'm going to send in for the $50 Canon loyalty rebate (if you have a Rebel XT XTI).

I can't find it for that price.... It's showing up at $1129.99 for me.

Sell, although I'd wait till after rebates. No reason to have the lens and even if you only sold it for $200 the 40D ultimately is cheaper for the lens being sold for that much.

I just weighed my option and was at the LCS today.

I got a strong wind that the 28-135 was bottoming out price wise.

We all know Canon has been bundling out the lens with the 20D,30D,40D, etc. for a while.

This created a large oversupply of the lens.

Now with the rebate driving the price down (the kit) rebate more and more people seem to get the kit.

As far as I can tell they are aware of this trend at most LCS(s).

Another reason is that finally the Sigma 18-125OS is shipping,
The extra 10mm make it excellent indoors.
Initial reviews on this Sigma say that it is not stellar but everything is relative.
It is going up against the 28-135 not against some L glass.

Who knows maybe I'm wrong and the 28-135 will continue to sell strong @ $270-325.

I had one once and it was ok.
Pics were soft but that was to be expected.

939.95 from Amazon. I would not get the 28-135 lens. Get it without the lens and save $200 and the hassle of putting a mediocre lens up for sale with all of the other mediocre lenses for sale. I would not go through all the hassle for $100.00.

I ended up going with BH @ $939.

It came to $955 with the SH.

I see you already made your decision, but I went the kit route. Bought it from Amazon with the Gold Box discount and sold the lens for just under $300 net to me on ebay. Ebay is definitely the way to go if you're selling the kit lens. The body came out to about $775 for me.

Heck of a deal for the kit at 1129. You can easily sell the lens for 325 which will net you a 40D body for 804. I did just that and I love the 40D. Much nicer camera than the 10, 20, and 30D's. The speed and the 3" (accurate colored) LCD is so sweet. Yup, buy the kit, sell the lens, buy good glass, and smile.
