As always, interesting and creative subjects. Would be nice if the squiggly bit on the first shot was sharp - my eyes keep trying to focus on it.

Second one is a little too blurry for me to understand what's going on.

speedie- do you think if i just sharpened it up in photoshop that would fix it? focusing on that reflection was alot harder than i thought it would be, and even when i try and do it in the light i can't quite get it right

colinh810- 10 second exposure and my shaky hands don't mix too well  i was going for a bit of an abstract feel, but i absolutley agree with you... if i lay off the coffee for a little while i could make that much better.

The squiggle is almost in focus to the right but quite bad to the left, so you might struggle with PS getting it to look even. Having said that, it is an abstract shot so you could probably get away with some "cheating"!

For me, the first shot doesn't really do anything.

However I love the second shot. The black squiggly pulls my eye right into the middle of the frame simply because of the contrast. It almost looks as if you're shooting a tornado out of your hand! It's an abstract, and I think the lack of any kind of true "focus" is more appealing, even though i can't tell WTF is going on other than you tossing something in your hand. :)
