Settings for Fountain shots?

I am wondering what is the best settings to take pictures of a large water fountain (mid-day) using a Canon A720 IS

would there be a big difference between auto & manual?

Are you going to have a tripod or not?

If yes, I would shooting in manual, stop it down as far as it will let you, and get teh slowest shutter you can while still being in good exposure.

If you don't have a tripod, I would just shoot in auto, or like AV (I believe the A720IS has that like my A530) and shoot that way. Perhaps trying to get a faster shutter speed to freeze the water.

Too bad. Try backlight as much as possible. If it's lit, I'd try some in the evening while there's still some light in the sky.

Try to brace the cam on something.
