Sometimes if the subject matter is not overly interesting, people will just look and move on. Dont get discouraged, keep posting.

On the second one, Open your right eye.... Makes for an interesting look.

Pretty good DOF on the third one, just the WB like I said before.

The last one has pretty harsh flash, its little washed out and created a dark shadow. Try and use as much natural light as you can and avoid the built in flash, which means taking it out of Auto mode. Practice Practice Practice.

#1 looks very slightly underexposed, and could use a slight increase in contrast. Since you can't see his hands it's difficult to see what he is doing to get the story behind the image.
#2 I like this one. Maybe increase the contrast just a touch to give it a bit more pop.
#3 A bit too centered for my liking. Maybe try a square format and crop some of the area to the left of him. And like the first image I find that when taking candid images of people there has to be enough in the frame to add interest to the image. For this one it doesn't even look like his eyes are open.
#4 :) I think we've all done this one.
#5 White balance is off a fair bit (too yellow). Unfortunately there is some motion blur (from either camera shake or subject movement). For shots like this you need a faster shutterspeed.
#6 A wider aperture would let in more ambient light reduce the straight on flash appearance. It would also help blur some of the background. My only other comment is that the subject is the childs face is dead center (great smile though). Try cropping the image a few different wasy to see if you can improve it.

These pics are actually quite good to be from a virgin camera.

#1
I like the composition. I suspect that this specific exposure has captured a truer skin tone, but I wouldn’t mind if the exposure level was somewhat higher. His point of interest is the leaf clumps at the right edge because that’s where his line of sight points and the clumps are more in focus than the remaining leafs—that's a good thing to have going on. I like this bokeh. You might be able to dodge the eye area to make an exposure improvement.

#2
I like the exposure. It preserves the detail since there’s no blowouts or blackouts. The composition works for me, too. I like the bokeh, it makes the subject jump out at me. I would also agree that a close crop might be an improvement or at least as good.

#3
I like the exposure and the bokeh. Not so much the composition. While the eyes are placed on a preferred diagonal axis line, they are too central and they’re looking out of the picture. I Would like it more if I could have seen the object of his gaze.

#4
It’s too soft for my tastes. Usually a composition can define a snapshot or a photograph. This one is a snapshot.

#5
This might be a reasonable composition and pose, but the landscape orientation destroys it for me. The white balance is way off, but there are some who would like the tungsten quality. I suspect you're one who likes this type of white balance error or you wouldn't have posted it.

#6
The little guy is cute as a button. The focus is a little too soft for me and placement is too central. A snapshot for sure, but definitely a keeper a/c the subject content.

In general, I think you did very well for a beginning.

Cheers,
Jam
