One reason being is that there are times when your gradient line will have to be at an angle to suit the composition...without the tripod, you'll be trying to keep your camera either perfectly vertical or horizontal, while at the same time trying to keep your gradient at the proper angle. Depends on where I am and what I'm shooting. If I happen to be out, need an ND grad and don't have a tripod, I'll still use them. -- K e v i n --

Jun 07, 2008 20:25 | #6 The reason I posted this an idea I had for a DIY project for a clam that would attach to the lens barrel and have an flexible extendable arm that would hold the filter in front of the lens eliminating a traditional filter holder.
