I`ve got a Canon XTI with anEF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens.Can I use an extender?

only where the lighting would be high, like outdoors. also, don't believe your auto focus or IS will work with the extender.

IS works with extenders, but on anything but a 1d series the af will not work. on 1d, the center will work just fine, but the other points won't. however, if you tape the pins, you can fool the camera into thinking the lens can focus. 70-300+and tc is a bad idea though


I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

not a Canon extender -- they only work with certain L series lenses.

third party extender could work, but you will probably lose autofocus. viewfinder may be dark, too.
