All all I've got a 30D and a 580EX II and I'm currently on the look out for a 2nd hand 430 ex.

I would like to fire both of these wirelessly off camera.

My question is what would be the best way to do this? I've been looking into the PocketWizards yet am unsure if I would I need to buy 2 or 3 of these? Can the 580EX II fire the 430EX independently?

Any help would be great.

Many Thanks,

Devs. ;)

If the 2nd flash is only going to be off camera I would look for something with a PC port. Nikon SB 24/25/26/28 are fairly cheap and have PC (SB26 also has a built in optical slave). I've paid <$50 each for my last two SB25s - much less than I paid for my 430EX.

When I need an on camera flash I use the 430EX. When I'm working with strobes off camera I use the Nikons and wireless triggers.

Check out Strobist here (external link) for great info on better lighting with small strobes.
