Hi All

Just recieved a couple new wireless triggers... ebay hong-kong specials... There NOT the usual ones you see...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk …eName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=021 (external link) cheap and cheerful i thought...

The range is stunning...!!!

Rubbish picture just checking the range... its dark so i took a couple pictures of the front of a car and walked backwards...

Shot taken with a 100-300mm lens of the front number plate of a parked car... (though that way you would be able to get a sense of distance) sorry for the really really rubbish pictures!!!

No false fires at all either... shot around 100 shots this afternoon.

100mm (full image) 100 paces

IMAGE: http://www.nyphotographic.co.uk/share/f1.jpg

Same spot at 300mm (full image) 100 paces

IMAGE: http://www.nyphotographic.co.uk/share/f2.jpg

Shot several at this distance and it fired everytime!

I'll probably remove these images and replace with better ones when i've had more time to play more.

They are really quite small, simular size to a 40d battery. I've tried them with my Sigma 500 super DG and an old 300EZ and a couple of other little flashes, only one real old one wont fire the rest seem fine.

My GI triggers work from 30+ meters away when I test them at home, but they tend to fail on location and have problems syncing.

Hum thanks tim, thats my worry... they work fine on the bench testing but with all the hussel and bussel of a reception, what with people, furniture and phones etc everywhere they will actually end up nowhere near as reliable... I think i'll give them a go at my next event (this weekend) but not rely on them... if they work it'll be great and add another dimension to my lighting if not they wont...

I'll reply with how they get on, or not...

Seriously, mine work great at home, they fire reliably between 2m and half way down my street, now that i've added antenna. I've only used them at two receptions, but at both they were a real pain in the butt. They fired about 70% of the time, which is actually worse than not working at all. I'm definitely getting some skyports before my next wedding - which is a couple of months away as it's winter here.

Same GI trigger, different cheap casing.

I love my GI's, haven't had a single misfire yet!

Oh my god... what can i say... these are superb... i used them on thursday to shot some playgroup kids... took 300 shots not a single problem and then again last night i took over 200... again not a single misfire! the set up i used was just 2 triggers each mounted on a sigma 500 super set to C1 1/4, one transmitter which i swapped from body to body depending on what lens i wanted to use. Fast apature and slow shutter to get the coloured lights to show and just put one unit next to the disco outfit and randomly placed another on a table, both bouncing. The range was amazing.

One of the playgroup kids on Thursday... bounced one off a reflector and the other off the ceiling.

And last night... no pp yet just a convert and crop.

Hi Jimmyt

I used my 40d and 350d both in manual... the triggers don't support ETTL or TTL so its all manual..! not a problem really when using the sigmas... just set them up and have a couple of test shots to balance the lighting by uping or reducing the power of each flash.

At the reception i did roughly the same but if i was along way from the light i just adjusted the iso on my camera up a bit, would have adusted the F stop, i was using a 17-55 IS and a 70-200 IS both on f2.8 to capture the ambent light already...!

A couple more for you.

I have a set of these ones and an extra receiver on the way from Next Digital on ebay. They were slightly cheaper and had free shipping. I like these ones slightly better than the standard ones that GI offers because well, AAA batteries in the receivers are a lot cheaper to replace and you dont have to open it up to get at the dip switches to change the channel.

From the little i could find on them, they will work with a 430EX better than the others. But Ill test them with the two of them and the 580 II we have here when I get them.
