Ordered mine over the weekend. Can't wait to get 'em.

I really can't praise them enough, in fact i'm considering getting a coupe more and maybe another transmiter, that way i could set off different units depending on which channel they are set on and transmiter used.

One of the best cheap buys i've had from ebay... ranks right-up there with the speedo cable i was quoted £25 from my local bike shop that i paid 99p for cos no-one else bid on... :)

Canon 5D MarkII, 40D, 350D, EOS100, G10. Canon 24-105 F4 L, 85mm, 400mm F5.6, 50mm F1.8, 18-55mm, Sigma 10-20, 100-300mm, Canon 28-105 F3.5-F4.5, Kenko x1.4, Tubes and a bunch of Elinchrom Lights, flashes, reflectors and triggers.

Seriously, mine work great at home, they fire reliably between 2m and half way down my street, now that i've added antenna. I've only used them at two receptions, but at both they were a real pain in the butt. They fired about 70% of the time, which is actually worse than not working at all. I'm definitely getting some skyports before my next wedding - which is a couple of months away as it's winter here.

I ordered Skyports for Mexico but unfortunately the Vivitar port on my flash is dead and I didn't think to order the hot shoe to miniphone adapter as a contingency. That means I'm back to the eBay ghettos for now. I'd try to hack an older hot shoe to PC adapter to the one Vivitar cord I bought but I can't find the old adapter. D'oh!

The flashes are dead simple, pull them apart and add whatever wires and sockets you need.

The problem is I'm sorely lacking in the sockets I need.

If it is the Vivitar port, push the Vivitar plug in there and give it a few rotations and wiggle it around.

The Vivitar connector works by pressure on that end contact. And, the surface area affected is pretty small. This wiggle, twist rigor may knock off any corrosion on the plug tip and the contact it pushes against.

Enjoy! Lon

I tried that Lon. It's loose as a goose and won't make contact no matter what I do. I've had the shoe apart and tried to snug it up but that didn't help. There's not a lick of corrosion on or in the port.

Problem solved. I tore apart the foot again and was able to more solidly fix the connector. What's even more pathetic is there really wasn't a whole lot wrong with the connection in the first place...B&H shipped me a Skyport with a dead transmitter battery! Once I scrounged up a replacement (not the right size, but the voltage matches & a little electrical tape took care of the physical discrepancy) and made the port a little more solid, I was/am good to go. :)

I was gonna do that actually...twist 'em into the springs that hold the little plugs down. It's a retarded foot...the Vivitar 5600 is a module system so it's mostly printed circuit with a band of flex connecting the top board with the bottom and then the springs are soldered to the bottom board. I should have taken pictures while it was apart.

Well mine arrived last night. Only took a week to ship from HK (Im used to 3 weeks or more to Australia). The 430 pops a little bit when they are set to 1 channel but the rest are fine.

Now I just need to buy a second flash to use my second receiver with so Im not stealing dads 430 or 580 II.

Will test them out a bit more later on.

Nope. I thought it was a bit of a shame, but ah well.

Has anyone else noticed that the hotshoe on them is rather tight?

Yeah a little on some flash guns... One of mine was a little tighter than the other, you just need to remove a little of the black plastic in the bottom then they are fine.
