Wow, less than two weeks old and my new explorer tripod is broken and totally unusable!
I've really love the ability put this thing at any angle for macros but there are some real weak spots here. What just broke on mine was the steel screw that tightens the center column. The metal broke off inside the tripod body. SNAP! It broke off as I was tightening it and I wasn't reefing in it either, just normal tightening.
Also the handles where you secure the legs? It looks like If you lift up too high that may break at some point as well. Other than that this things built pretty well.
I was really starting to like it. 
What really blows is that Ive had It for 17 days and B&H is closed today. Hopefully they will let me return or exchange it tomorrow.
Anyone else have problems with this tripod? Ive been thinking of just using my regular one with a Bogen geared head instead.
