I have a local guy who wants to unload some equipment. He wants $685 for everything, but I was thinking more like $600

Canon 400D (2600 actuations on the sensor)
Canon 28-135mm IS
Canon 50mm 1.8
Canon 35-80mm (will be doing the Macro mod to this lens.).
various filters, all original packaging, manuals etc...
2 gig SanDisk
BG-E3
Quantaray bag

Could suit as a nice backup to the 40d.

Do you want, or need the lenses? If you're buying for a backup body I'd go for a used or refurbished 20D or 30D. That way you have a body with the same controls.

I dont really NEED them? No, but I do like to collect lenses:D. But I do see your point with the fluidity of controls between the main and backup.

Seems like pretty good deal to me,even if you decide it's not for you, I am sure you could get your money back by selling the package.
