Not sure what you were aiming for in the 1st one but I feel the narrow DoF is not right for that shot. The foreground is OOF as is the background. The part that is in focus is hard to determine as the subject has no defining features in that area (except part of the knife blade, but I don't think that this was the feature you wanted to highlight). I would probably have shot that with a deeper DoF and have the foreground in focus as well, leaving the background OOF.

The 2nd would benefit from a rotation anti-clockwise to level the subject and a crop to remove the wall in the immediate foreground. I find the foreground White Balance to be annoying in it's self but it does make the subject stand out more.
