I like the idea, I'd use the same font for both pieces of text though and maybe either give them either a drop shadow or stroke for a bit of pop, i'm sure you'll get lots of other advice which is always great in here, make sure we see your final product. Looking forward to it.

I think the background of the main photo distracting and too bright. I took the liberty of doing a quick (very quick) edit of the main photo, cutting out the girl and de-saturating and darkening the background. Also darkened whole image with levels, seemed a little OE. If you stack her name in the top left corner it will fill more of the space. Just my take on the collage, there are many, many ways to do this kind of thing and everyone will have there own opinion, which could make the editing never end.....
Nice captures with great action and emotion.

It maybe your web version, but she not "popping out to me." Take the layer of the main photo and adjust those reds and blues a bit. Also try to sharpen it using Unsharp Mask:

Amount 119; Radius 1.8; Threshold 1

Notes, I like the concept, it is missing something. I like the darkend background, but only below the jump. Above the jump, I like the natural light. Clone out the red pants in the back left.

Try Using Radial Bur - Zoom; Amount 10 on the background above her.

Personally, I like the bright back grounds, as you can see in mine. From the ones I print out -- 20x30 from mpix -- the bright background really makes the athlete you focal point.

Here is an idea that you might like. I did a quick selective color so it makes the main photo "pop"

maybe it's just me, but i wouldn't use two photos of her long jumping, particularly the one of her landing for the top pic and of her in midair on the bottom. My eyes are moving from top to bottom so i see that she's landed a long jump (not doing much for me) then later i see her in midair (doing a lot more for me).

I would see if you have another photo of her doing another event for the top right corner pic. Otherwise I might switch the position of the two photos so that the first thing the viewer sees is her in midair, then they see her landing it.

I'm jealous, it sure looks nice to have some scenic mountains to look at while running around the track.

I think that is needs some more text to it. Using the Selective color shot from above, you could creatively add the school name, and possibly even mix the events that she participated in with the background so that they are not prominent as to not distract from the main shot . . .

Another option would be to start with a generic background and place the images either mixed with the background, or on top of it.

Evn though, I like the poster, I agree there is something not quite "there" about it.

I may be dumb, but I'm not scared . . .

"seems like it's missing something" = dimension & depth.

Work the text a little more to flow with the images. You have a good format. Just keep working it until you have proper hierarchy and text incorporation.

School logo will help, school name, some stats or records.

Keep it up! :)

Thanks for the ideas guys. My artistic side is sorely lacking.

I think you should place all three photos on the right side. The one in the lower left corner does not seem to fit to me.
