As a graphic designer, YIKES! Way too much going on. Lose the startburst and multiple silo's.

Pick your best photo, and use only one. Choose one clean, san-serif typeface, and keep it simple!

Check out some of the shots on the NJ Devils website, to see examples of good shots. One good shot will tell a story, much more than a mixture of imagery. Your eye does not know where to go first.

With all due respect to you, parents wants action posters with their kids in them. I agree with you in the sense, the poster needs to be aesthetically pleasing and there is a fine line between too many pictures and not enough. One thing that would be interesting in terms of marketing is if pro sports posters had more pictures in them, would they sell more?

Again, thanks everyone for all of the helpful suggestions, that's what makes this forum so great.

Tom

To the OP: The second poster is better. The images seem distorted, and the players seem like they are floating. Your background is crisp and clean but the images lack all that. That is a tuff situation because they are not your photos and you have to do the best you can with what you have. Keep it up and I look forward to seeing more. Have fun :)

Thanks Adam, your opinion is always well received - I sent the poster to the mom indicating my plight with the quality of the pictures and she wants me to look thru her pics or go out to the rink during her son's next game to take some better pictures, so conceptually she likes it, but as everyone agreed with, the pictures do detract from it.

Adam,
Another fantastic poster! I've been visiting your FX site, and keeping up on the progress of the tutorials.

Tom, Second poster is much better. The quality of the shots is very limiting. Can you get a better resolution team logo (Hornets)? Another option: add a team shot.
