What a long week it's been.... Six days and 55 + hours of shooting. I'm a tad tired, but wanted to post a few images. Haven't had time to do much processing, only the basics on a few images, and haven't even scratched the surface of going through the 10,000 + images now bogging down my computer, but I wanted to share a few anyhow.

It was a real learning experience for me as I've never had anything at all to do with this sport before in my life. I did enjoy it, and covering a few apparatuses at once for a week sure improved my speed!

My only regret is that the lights weren't brighter and I couldn't get a faster shutter speed. Had to run everything through Noise Ninja as well as they all needed significant brightening.

Those girls on the balance beam left me in awe every time..... they are simply amazing......

There's more on my website if you happen to be bored and really like gymnastics.

I must admit I'm not sure how to go about posting with the data. I didn't remove it intentionally, I guess it just isn't there ?

That being said, all were taken at 2.8 between 400 and 640 with ISO of 1600. All had to be lightened in photoshop as well. All shot with 40D and 70-200 2.8 IS.

Great job! Looks like #4 needs a little CW rotation, but they all look great!

That's what I was thinking, only wish it was a tiny bit sharper.

I know, I thought so too. It was a battle against motion blur in there and I think I may have missed my focus on that one a tad too. I have a few more in front of that screen, some that I think may have the full logo too, which is what I was aiming for, that and a red uniform of some sort, I just haven't got around to finding them in the mass of pictures yet. But hopefully one will be a little sharper. I don't think Noise Ninja did it too many favours either.

Do you mind if I as why you there shooting. Obviously it was a paid gig so don't give away to much info. Just a little to satisfy my curiosity.

No, don't mind at all. I was working for the event photographer who is also an Olympic photographer. She hired three of us to cover all the sessions throughout the week. Some day I want to go to the Olympics too..... ah..... a girl is allowed to dream right?

Great jo in tough conditions... I hear you about dark areas and the use on NN. I use it alot as well.

If I were to CC I would say I dont like the crop on 5 and the WB is off on a couple of them, but over all very good work. Pictures are sharp and crisp and nice peak action captures!

Excellent work!!! Very nice shots and given that you haven't covered it before, you certainly have an eye for it! Since you can't post your EXIF, can you tell us what ISO, F stop, and shutter speed you were shooting , in general... I realize you can't provide the data for 10,000 images. ;)

I'd love to shoot one of these meets as a second shooter as you were. There were guys crawling all over the USA Olympic trials and every session I wondered how THOSE guys and gals were picked for the assignment. I need their jobs!:D
