Bogenimaging (USA) has put together several interesting Elinchrom lighting kits that offer substantial savings over either a la carte or standard kit purchases. Take a look here:

http://****/3rk3fw (external link)

Kits 5 and 6 are like two little devils sitting on my shoulder. Kit 5 includes two Style 600RX monolights and the Skyport RX trigger set. Kit 6 includes one 300RX and one 600RX plus the same Skyport set. Kits include just the lights and Skyport (no stands, umbrellas, reflectors, case).

B&H has these kits listed at $1649.95 and $1539.95 respectively. Two Style 600's alone would cost $1736 while one 600 and one 300 would cost $1618. The Skyport RX set goes for $260 so, for example, the kit with 2 600's and Skyport saves about $350. Hmmm.

Other than buying used, I can't imagine finding a more attractive deal on a pair of 600RX's and the Skyport set.

Anyone else tempted?

Dave F.

Yeah I saw the #5 kit on B&H. What a deal. I was looking at the std 600/600 kit(case, stands, umbrellas included) and found the promo skyport kit( 2-600RX, Skyport) for around $550.00 less than std kit(no Skyports). I would rather have them and buy softboxes and stands. I heard the std case($240.00 B&H) isn't great for travel. So this promo is really the way to go!!

Just curious, what's with the tinyurl redirects?

I'd love kit 5, great deal. Does anyone know if the 600RX's would be suitable for B-Ball strobe use?

The temptation to add to my lights is killing me!
It's good through september so no rush I suppose.

Of course I'm tempted Dave! (We have similar deals locally). I just can't afford it right now... (tax time coming up for us Aussies :( ).

I was looking at picking up a pair of White Lightning 1600's until I laid my eyes upon kit #5 at B&H. Unfortunately (at least for my pocketbook), I was looking while B&H was accepting orders on Saturday evening. Now, the wait......

The beauty of the Skyports is that with the RX lights you can adjust the output from the transmitter.

Do they work with my hotshoe flashes? I know nothing about them (other than that).

The set that comes with the RX promotion is for the RX series lights (the transmitter is universal though). There is a universal model (receivers) that will work like the PW's for use with other strobes/flashes.

It's worth checking to see which promotions (if any) are honoured by your local dealer before you get excited. The Flash Centre in the UK, for example, does not feature Elinchrom's 300RX/600RX promotion which is the only one that I'd have considered buying.

The link is for Bogen USA, so I don't know if the special is also being run in other regions as well.

Yes, the promotion comes straight from Elinchrom and extends to all their distributors worldwide.

However, not all official Elinchrom dealers (in any country) will choose to run the promotions so you can't be sure that your local dealer will sell the package you want - it is well worth phoning/emailing them to see what they offer.
