Hey everyone. I've lurked for awhile, then joined, lurked some more, and am finally getting around to posting something.

I was using a flash earlier in the shoot but decided to turn it off and use the available light as I was fumbling with the settings. Practice makes perfect with the flash... and I need more practice.

Both shot using:
30D (in M) w/ 70-200 f/4L
Iso:100
Av: 4.0
Tv: Approx, 1/250-1/1000

Forgive the border and sig, I'm pulling them from my Flickr:

Lemme know what you think (but keep in mind I'm fairly new :D )...

Thanks!

WB looks a tad too blue in #2 and slightly in #1,
the lighting is fairly well as its nice and soft showing good textures on the jumper,
poses look fairly tight.. and slightly unnatural, technically they are quite good though

Cool, thanks for the comments. All stuff I can try and work on the next time we're out shooting. I'll try messing with the color temps and warming it up a bit. For the poses being too tight, do you mean as her arms are to her sides or the crop being a little close?

And she's my girlfriend, so I definitely hope she's not foreshadowing anything. :)

Thanks guys. I've looked through a lot of the "People" forum threads and tried what was recommended with warming the model up and such. But it sure looks like there's more practice to be had (always is, nothing is ever perfect).

The crops are fine, but she looks really tensed up. the crops however are good in the 2nd pic but I think she is too far over to the left in the second pic.

Oh and those edits are much better. The colour looks a lot better.

:)

I gotcha; thanks again for your help boucha. I've always been afraid of making things too warm... but with people, a little warmth goes a long way with the skin tones.

I adore her sweater!

I think the skin tones look the best in your second play of the first photo. As the other's said, her poses look forced, but your exposure looks nice :) Keep practicing!

Thanks Camellia, I'll be sure to pass on the compliment. Maybe that'll help loosen her up and boost some confidence... thus leading to more photo practicing opportunities.

I hope this plan of mine works.
