Lurkers really dont bother me.... most "real" skate photos will have them... but it seems kids these days are into the whole "staging" there skate photos... its kinda like how they skate now... its all show,.. "look at me , look at me"... more about "stunts", they have no flow... I'll get flamed for saying all that... but if they think about it, they know its true.... all my skate shots are taken during "skate sessions".. on the fly, kinda like how this was shot during a demo... I do use 2 remote flashes but its a guessing game if there in the correct spots.... oh , and you damn kids better say off my lawn....lol

Of course, I'm just not sure if he distracts from the main (stated) focus of this shot, which is the advertising on him and his board, and the background. Like I said, it was really minor.

I just wish a little more of the lurker was in the frame-- I think it's odd to have nobody else in the shot, usually skating is a social thing. But that's just my preference.
+1 to the comments about lighting and general post processing (aka saturation)
The lighting thing really isn't that hard to do, look at a place like strobist.blogspot.com and you can get tons of ideas about how to use small flashes to do impressive things. The shot would really go up a level if the background was underexposed a bit and the skater was popping out more, but overall it's definitely a very ice shot with great timing.
