Hi,

Having owned this wonderful little printer for several years, it has always produced excellent prints...to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, I do not use it on a daily basis...sometimes going a week between print jobs.

Recently, I have begun to experience problems with the jets / nozzles, in that:

1. Blotches of black in on my prints
2. Banding / Vertical Lines on my prints

I have tried cleaning the jets / nozzles repeatedly, but the problems keep occuring.

Does anyone have suggestions of where to take this Epson R800, to have it cleaned professionally? I am in the New Jersey / New York area. Worst case, I could simply mail back to Epson for servicing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Dave

Dave,

I use an elderly Epson 950 inkjet that has had 3 major blocks in its lifetime. For the usual minor blockages nozzle cleaning via the on screen utility is fine, even if it takes half a dozen goes sometimes. But Epson have told me for the big problems I should use the buttons on the printer itself. For some unknown reason this is more effective.

Even using this method, it has taken as many as a dozen cleaning cycles to unblock things, but it has worked for me eventually. Be prepared to loose a lot of liquid gold. Sorry, I mean ink!

The R800 may or may not have the same method, but Epson are very helpful, at least I've always found them to be so. Unlike a certain camera manufacturer of our aquaintance.

I tend to run through a quick clean about once a week, or before any important print sessions. I hope by doing this it might prevent any more major blocks.

Richard
