I've been lurking around the forum for many months now and finally decided to post some of my pictures. So here are my pics from yesterday's awesome DRIFT SESSIONS @ COUNTYLINE!! Countyline is a ex-landing strip for small aircraft turned into 1/8 mile race track. Once a month the guys from sfldrifters.com hold a event there. They use the staging lanes as the drift track which ends up being a great amateur track to practice on. This is my fourth event with a media pass. I was in TV all day from 1/80 to 1/100 depending on the overcast. Check the sig for equipment used. If anybody has some pointers I could use, PLEASE let me know, your advice could make me money so IM all ears! I was limited to 8 images but ended up with about 30 or so images I was very happy with. Let me know what you guys think, C&C Welcome, but take it easy cause I'm still a amateur, and this is my first post here. ENJOY.

I've been having issues lately with my focus. Somebody at the event stated that maybe the camera needs a good ol' fashioned cleaning. After shooting in dirt and tire smoke for the past 4 events plus all the other shoots I go on, he said to take it to a place he recommended and the camera will be like new! What are some of your opinions on these view? Can my camera be internally damaged because of using it in the elements?

Those lenses aren't necessarily fast glass. That could cause focusing issues. Were you using a tripod? 1/80th shutter speed is hovering around the area of needing a tripod or pictures will appear blurred. How was your camera set up for focusing?

Try using a higher shutter speed...say 800 or more. Maybe that will help.

Why the heck is everyone in a fricking Nissan? The last picture, the driver is giving a shaka!

Well the point was to get the blur in the background, gives it a motion feeling. If I were to use a higher shutter speed the wheels wouldn't even be in motion! It would seem that the car is parked at a angle, not drifting! And everybody is in a Nissan because these are amateurs and don't really have the money to buy other cars that are able to drift.

How about trying the use of a tripod or monopod, and manually focusing in on an area of the coarse you want to shoot? Maybe that and messing around with your shutter speed you may get what your looking for while still achieving your blurred background.

I'm not too sure, just throwing things out there.
