Help me chose

I am LooKing in to getting a new body or a lens. Looking at the 40D or the 5D, or the 17-55 IS USM. I shoot some wedding and also on sit portraits and studio. I like the idea of having a good back up. I have a 30D now and a 70-200 2.8L and 28-135 IS USM and a sigma wide angle for group shots. What do you think?

I would say get both the 40D with the 28-70 2.8. What about flash systems?

I have a 580EX II and the 430EX.

since you have two flashes I would probably opt for the 40 D at the lower price and add a lens maybe the 24-105 or the 50 1.4.

When doing weddings its always best to have duplicates of everything you never know what will happen. I was at a wedding a few years ago and I dropped one flash in a parking garage stair well then my other flash quit working so I was left to finish the wedding with on camera flash fortunately it was at the very end of the reception that the other flash failed. I learned my lesson and now I have three flash units along with three sunpak 555 as well as sometimes I will carry a studio light just in case.
