Is this an Eastern Wood Pewee (or Western) or a phoebe of some sort? If this is a pewee I had always just assumed it was a phoebe and bypassed taking them, but something about this one looked different so I couldn't pass up a good shot. I have a shot from the front as well if you need to see it.

It was taken in Southern Oklahoma (Tishomingo) and we do have phoebe's around here and the map shows that we have eastern wood pewee's as well.

Thanks
Bill

I'm no expert, especially when it comes to flycatchers, but this bird looks very much like the Eastern Pewee photo in my bird book. I don't think its a Phoebe as they have much darker heads + the wing bars don't match that of a Phoebe. That's my best guess.

Best Regards,

Beautiful shot Bill! It sure looks like an Eastern Wood-Pewee to me with that lower orange bill! Wish this were mine....

Excellent shot -- better than the one in my bird book. I think you are right on the id.

Oh wow, I just noticed that you said Tishomingo! Wow! my old stomping grounds! I grew up in Madill (next town over :) ) on a farm and later lived in the town itself. You just brought back a flood of memories. Do you live there or in that area of OK?
