In CS3, I did a levels adj, curves adj, sharpened her eyes. It needs something else but what? This was just for practice, don't go overboard on the posing technique or her hair.

To make this pop, the background, pose, clothes and expression need to be changed;) I know this is practice, but in this photo, which is good there is nothing else to make "pop"?

Her skin tones look really red on here. I usually correct for color in the curves channel. Is that what anyone recommends or is there another way? She's really a very pink little girl tho.

maybe it's just me, but the lighting seems to harsh on the side of her face. i would diffuse the light a little more or move it further back. also, maybe a darker background would help. this picture really isn't that bad though.

Did a quick edit on it. Applied a vignette and blurred the bg a bit, adjusted the hue/saturation some to make her brighter, and gave it a little high pass sharpening.

She has nice blue eyes that do not really "show" in your photo. I lightened them up a little and the color just came out. Other than that the only thing I did was adjust WB from the whites of her eyes. Here are a couple of edits.

Thanks! She does have beautiful eyes, that looks so much better. Also, her skin color, much better. I loved her freckles too.

I like the comp and especially the pose and I think the edits saved the shot.

I'm puzzled by the lighting. I see the main catch light generated from a source at her right and I see the main light on her left side. I also see characteristics of butterfly lighting. From the position of the two catchlights I expected to see rembrandt from her right side. Would you describe the lighting setup that was used?

Here is my super quick go at it. I am loving those freckles! :)

Just played with curves and levels. Used USM on the eyes along with dodging a little. Changed the background, ran it through noiseware. That's it :)
