Covered a event for 3 day this past weekend. It was a non profit event that didn't have money allotted for photography. So I done it for free. Which I know is crazy, but it is portfolio build and networking. Which turned out great. The marketing director which asked me to cover it was suppose to provide a contract and she never produced one. Now I have over 1500 photos and I want her to sign a contract. Here the problem I don't have one and not really sure how to draw one up. The verbal agreement was that I couldn't sell any images, but I and they could use them for promotional purpose. This includes website, print, etc. I just want to make sure I get credit for my work on any print or website using the images. I will definitely be putting my copyright info on each images. Does anyone have contract or can give me a rough contract that would cover this? I plan on having her sign one before I release them to her.

Well, in my eyes they are at the mercy of you at this point. If they want pics, they MUST sign whatever contract you want them to. You can put that you can sell the pics on the contract, and if they don't agree to sign it, then they get no pictures (granted, you might not be able to use the pics either in this situation).

You know this already, but free was a bad idea. In situations like this I try and gain access without promising images to the organization (sometimes just say something like "you will be provide with a free web sized image for promotional use). Unless the organization is like...the american cancer society, having your credit in whatever they advertise isnt going to get you anywhere. Being credited as the free photographer will not get you any good paying clients.

not really sure if anyone will be able to understand what I just wrote....been a long night.

Extrememc-

At this point, a contract is really not going to help things. I would just provide the images on CD with your small watermark, and use the images in your portfolio and dont sell them per your verbal agreement. The images are your copyright and you do not need any additional permission except to use them in print advertisements. Use in your portfolio and website is fine.
