Typical harsh lighting, NO PP, No crops
I'm not really happy with any of em, but whatever

Black Diamond huh??... I stopped up Maple Shade for a few minutes, way to hot to break my gear out.... and I like that first shot...

Outside of the harsh lighting I think the shots #2-4 would look better if they not so tightly cropped. For example #2 it would be nice to see where the entire 'story'...meaning you should show the entire rail so the viewer knows where skater gets on and off the rail. #1 is pretty nice.

#2 is a feeble grind. It could almost pass for a smith but judging by the stance it's a feeble.

#4. Doesn't look like a kickflip to me (If it is a kickflip then zero style points for him - kickflip law demands they be stonked and caught with feet. Board caught with the back foot is sufficient and can earn high style bonuses ). It looks like his foot caught the wheel, preventing completion of the trick. Did subject land it?

I like shot #2 the best because it looks like the subject pulled the trick. It is a pic that is publish worthy for event reportage purposes. #4 - no. There is no context to the shot so for all I know the subject flailed his board about but did not roll away. You don't know what is going on there. This is not satisfying and has a sense of incompleteness about it. As I used to skate, it is difficult to be impartial and divorce the shot and the subject. The shot should imply completion. Anything else is 'cheating'. Skating and BMX are physical activities that put high premium on aesthetics (style) - so the shot is more about capturing the essence of the subject than a technically brilliant shot in which subject is uninspiring.

Yeah, I forget what 4 did, might have been a heel. Or maybe a tre. He gave me a helmet though, so he's awesome. Really steezy too.

With the crooked, thats what I got. No cropping on any of these. I know what you mean, and I love the look when you have to look for the skater in the shot. However, There was another ramp there with red paint. Very distracting.

Yeah, black diamond. WAYYY over priced at $20 per person for a 5 hour sesh. Wont be going there again. There was this one kid maybe about 10 RIPPING UP the quarter. Just amazing skill. Didnt manage to get any shots of him though.

this the Kid?... your right he is 10... his name is Danti... they stopped at MSSP after BD... and before I had to lock the park because of the storm.

Yeah it is. it was renamed about 2-3 years ago. Still in the same place, but the entrance is a different place.

They aren't bad, personally I would get lower, don't crop so much the kid doing the crook is chopped and where is the rail going, shoot horizontal, and also make sure you make it easy to tell where the skater is coming from and going. Keep practicing!

No landing and barely any run up in any of these--compose better. Also whats with the colors? They're weird as hell... sucks that you have to shoot inside and deal with the crappy ambient. The second one is a back feeble. Timing on kickflip is too early and doesn't look like he's going to land it. Keep workin on it, you'll get it.
