Well, sorry in advance for this post, but I have to share my excitement with the interweb. :D

I'm finally replacing my Athlon XP 2600+ based machine (originally put together in 2001) with an Intel E8400 system. I've been contemplating a new build for 2 or 3 years, but the 5D raw files kind of pushed me over the edge. LR imports and PS batches currently allow me time to feed my dogs, spend time with my wife, make ridiculous posts on POTN...but this will all soon be in the past!

I'm sticking with my Hitachi CRT for now, but I'll probably replace it with an HP LP2065 (external link) when funds allow.

Old system:
Athlon XP 2600+ (originally an 1800+)
1GB DDR
Random Socket 462 motherboard (replaced original Soyo Dragon KT333)
Generic PSU (replaced original Antec that blew up)
Nvidia Ti4400 GPU
A bunch of drives
Windows XP Pro

New System:
Intel E8400
4GB DDR2 800
Gigabyte P35 based motherboard
Enermax 500W PSU
Nvidia 8400 GT GPU
A bunch of SATA drives
Vista HP 64bit

I think you'll notice a bit of a speedup. :)
