Just a quick Question, Would i be right in asuming that the L in the lens title means it is made from leadfree glass?
Cheers

L = Luxury from what I've heard.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Canon's moving to leadfree glass throughout its line, but as Scottes said, L doesn't refer to that.

So, next time you go to the Canon lens shop, you can buy either unleaded or regular.

Just to be careful, do not chew on your lens' glass. It could prove harmful to your health.

I thought the "L" stood for "lust for more?"

Beast- The letter L indicates Canon's Luxury line.

Many (not all) L lenses are white in body color. Canon indicates this gives superior reflectance of heat in hot areas. Makes sense, heat is the enemy of photography in general - and digital more so because of its nature.

L lenses go through more stringent QC processes and are constructed of quality components.

At this point in time - Canon L lenses are the benchmark for all other manufacturers.

Time and again you will see comparisons stating so-and-so lens is "almost as good as Canon"

Check out Canon's site and you will be impressed.

A 40D, a 30D, some nice glass and a great Shooting Partner.
