For those in Canada, the Days of Dell Deals has the UltraSharp 2408WFP 24'' on sale for $499 with free shipping.

Not sure if it's also in the US, but this is a great price for a great screen.

Ordered one this morning... can't wait to finally retire my old 17'' CRT!

Don't hesitate though, this is for one day only.

Wow Thanks!! Good thing I caught this post.

I had this monitor on order for $599!! Just phoned Dell.ca, cancelled & re-order, $499 is a much sweeter deal.

From most reports, not quite an Apple display, but it is a good panel for photo-editing

Really? I had heard this one was pretty much the same as the Apple Displays, but a little cheaper... not i'm not so sure!

But then again... for $500... I guess you can't go wrong.

Seriously folks dont buy this monitor, ive had to have 3 replacements as theyre rubbish, Dell are now refunding me.

Word of warning, go to Dells own monitor support forums and read the problems myself and many, many 2408 users have had.

Dell are trying to offload the problematic 2408 AOO Revision cheaply so they can stock up on a new AO1 revision which is due out late July.

Go here http://www.dellcommunity.com …oard?board.id=dim_monitor (external link) and check out all the bad vibes about the 2408, also search back a few pages and youll see this Monitor stinks for photographers and gamers.

Dont buy one.

You heard wrong. That is completely innacurate. The Dell 2007wfp (a previous generation, 20" monitor) was very similar to the Apple Cinema Display (they used the same panels) and was highly praised for this.

The Dell 2408wfp, while it might be a nice monitor for some people, is not even in the same ballpark as the ACD. The ACD has a 23" S-IPS panel (better pixel pitch, and a much higher panel in general) whereas the Dell has a 24" PVA (lower quality) panel.

The 2408 has actually gotten poor reviews compared to the older version, the non-HC 2407wfp.

Hope I've added my little dash of Dell knowledge to this thread :) I've owned all the monitors discussed here and I would rank the 2408 the lowest.

Still, its a good price.

Shooting with the Canon 5D & Nikon D300... and now the 20D!

You know... you are correct. I had been basing my views on older reviews, and I may have indeed been thinking of the older moniter you were talking about. I wrongfully assumed all high end Dell's were comparible to ACD's.

Looks like i'll be making a call to Dell tommorow. Thanks guys, for taking the time to enlighten us... much appreciated!
