She says "This lens that you've been using recently is white (70-200 f/4 IS). Wasn't the one I bought you for your birthday black? (the 70-300)" I told her that I simply traded with someone for the "white one" and she shrugged and says while walking away "I like the white one. It looks cooler". I love how technologically progressive she is, bless her soul :). All she knows is that she loves the images that I download to the computers. Once she figures out how to turn on the DVD player and switch to the proper interface on the LCD, I may start showing her more about the camera gear :)

She is still yet to notice that my Silver Rebel XT had miraculously morphed into a black 30D about a year ago.

You traded your wife's present for some cheesy white tube ? ! Shame on you !

My wife didnt realise when my 350D grew up into a 40D.

They grow up so fast T_T By this time next year my little 30D will be a big full frame 5D!

Or not, but gotta admit its an amusing thought :D

Just today I got my Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW. She asked when did I buy it and I told her that my big bag had too much free time with my small bag and mated.

She asked me, "So, when you put your big bag (referring to my Burton) & your small bag together they mated and yield this bag (pointing to the Lowepro)?". I just smiled and say "Yeap, just like when your Fendi mated with your Coach to make a Dior".

I'm about to order a 70-200mm f/4 L and trying to figure out what to tell the wife... I think I have over used the traded computer gear for it line... But I really did part out a tech station rig for it...

This is why I wish canon would make some "Stealth Ls". I have five lenses that look like one because they're all black (I keep the hood on reversed to hide the red circlet on my 24-105L... I'd love to get a 70-200L but reckon with that white tube I'd be rolled ;-)a... c'mon Canon you're missing a whole market segment - "financially restricted but sneaky people" :-)

You could always look for a "Magic Drainpipe". It's black. ;)

Considering my wife deals with most of the finances, its a tad bid difficult to hide any major camera purchases from her. Thus, I just simply come clean with a really good story to justify the upgrade I want to make......hehe.

Don't get married - keep her as a g/f.
I bought a 300 f/2.8 and 500 f/4 in the space of 6 months with no questions asked, except "more boxes?"

I'm still working out how to explain to my parents that my 40D got an awful lot bigger (Gripped), and that my 17-85 morphed into a Tamron (17-50 2.8 )... And that i need to find £400 or so to get an UWA, how does one explain multiplying lenses? Procreation?

Luckily when i next go home i'm going to be ebaying a lot of my life in order to make cash so should be all good :)

Cheers
Rowan

When your photography is paying for their clothes they tend to ask a lot less questions :p. With that being said my girlie absolutely adores my photography and so she has no problems at all with my splurging - as long as I can still afford to take her to her favourite cafe/chocolate place she couldn't care less. And I think she cares even less when my photos pay for her to go to her favourite cafe/chocolate place :D.

Still, I have no doubt that she'll be the cutest thing on earth the first time she examines the 70-200 f/4 that i'm looking at getting within the next few months. Photographers partners always seem to have big issues in coming to terms with the fact that "This one's white?". Ahh, they just don't get it...
