Anyone here has any feedback on the LC5 and the 300 f2.8 IS?

How does it fit with hood reverse and plate on the tripod foot?

How about the rubber at the edge of the hood? I've read that it can be tough to take the lens in and out because of the friction of the soft rubber.

I'm looking for a bag for this lens but a backpack maybe too big to carry so looking at the lens case instead.

It is mighty tight. It would not be convenient to use. Have you taken a look a the Think Tank Lens Changer for the 300? You might find it more convenient and compact.

Thanks Jim, I'll look into the Thinktank changer.

Do you use one that you can offer some input on? Does it have enough padding for the lens?

I have the LC4 for my 70-200 and it's really thick and well built hence the reason to look into the LC5.

Thanks

No, I'm not using one. I use the TT Glass Taxi to tote my 300 around. However, I have several of the TT lens changers. They are less padded than the Lowepro LCs but they will protect the lens from normal bumps and hits while on a shoot.

One of the reasons I switched from the Lowepro S&F system was because of the thickness of the LCs. They are overly padded for my use. On the other hand, the LC padding is great for more heavy duty bumps and hits.
