40D RAW file size.

I was wondering why the 40D Raw file is bigger than the one from my XTi.
On the 40D the file is always 12-16MB~ on the XTI is was 9-10.4MB~.

They are both 10.1MP (the files are identical 3888x2592).

Did a search on the forum but could not find and answer.
