I have used the 60" Eclipses for about a year or so. (Can't really remember when I got them) They are better than whatever I was using before. This is a 100% crop of a test I was doing with some pocket wizards and a 580EX. The reflection of the two umbrellas can be seen in the glasses. There were two umbrellas with AB800 (firing thru) I think one was set at about 1/2 power and the other was less. The strobes had 7" reflectors and were about 18"-24" from the umbrella surface, so this should be about a bad as it gets. Hope this gives you an idea of what you might expect.

I hope I attached image correctly. If not I'll try again

Thank you kcphotog. That is EXACTLY what I wanted to see. I'm liking it!!!

The catch lights produced have significantly reduced the definition of the umbrella spokes and unless you really zoom in it appears to be a round catch light.

The Eclipse seems like a good alternative to standard umbrellas and for my purposes it's much more usable, as main or fill.

D'ohh! I just realized I never got around to shooting some samples. Would you still like some, Robert?

I would like that Mike.

Not sure if you have shots of catch lights in eyes but what I do when I want to look at catch lights is to use a large ball (about 12" in diameter), set up the light and modifier, create the catch light as if it were the eye or face, and you can easily see the quality and shape of the catch light.

I don't have anything handy, but I'm sure I can whip something up.

I meant as far as ready pictures, LOL. I can toss the 85L on the table and get plenty of catchlights! :p

I ordered a 60" Eclipse Plus today. It will be here Friday and I'll be shooting with it on Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes.
