DIY Studio lights

I would like to graduate from the lighting box up to something larger. I have the space picked out. Now before I go and spend real money on studio lights I am trying to do with what I have.

What I have is four of these lights. They have a HID H3 bulb in there that produces a very bright 6000K beam. Its pretty bright and harsh but if you use nice sheets then it becomes a very "white" soft light. Already tested and it works.

My question is, where do you guys shop for polls? actuators? preposition-able lock arms? I would like to create my own re-adjustable arms to adjust the angels.

I don't need it to carry much weight (~1 lb). I can attach them to the ceiling or put them on the floor.

They do run a bit hot, I would have them about 5-7' feet away the subject. The filter would be about 6" from the lens. No issues so far in my testing.
