Technically I have shot foodstuff before but this is the first time I actually took it seriously. I got a couple of links off the forums for food photog and I'm about to take em up.

I just wanted some views of what you guys think. I made it into a mosaic.

The closeups are shot with the nifty on the XTi and the macros are shot with the nifty reversed on the A570IS.

The dish, for those not familiar to Indian food, is Chicken Tikka. Very VERY delicious.

Here's the photo:

I really gotta stop looking at these food shots...every time I do I get hungry! LOL!!!

Over all I think the shots look pretty good but the color looks just a little off on my monitor...maybe a white balance issue? Almost looks like there's just a bit of a yellowish or orange cast to the shots like they were shot under incandescent. It's not bad by any means but it might be worth taking a quick second look at.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you mount the nifty fifty backwards? Do you have some kind of adapter or something? I've tried to do the same thing with my nifty and my Rebel XT but I end up hand holding the lens because I don't have any way to secure it to the camera (except for duct tape! LOL!).

Good job and thanks!
Jim

Hey Walczak :) Thanks
Well I did actually shoot it under incandescent, and the WB was warmer originally, I kinda changed the tint to what it is now. :) I did spend some time fiddilng with it and maybe ended up getting a little skewed on my judgement.

The nifty on backwards was not on the XTi but on my powershot A570IS. :) And that idea was obtained from right here - POTN.

Here's the link :) Easy peasy.

The lighting, camera angle and composition are good. I think some improvement could be achieved with a nicer slice of lemon and some detail in the bowl.

Thanks man. Indeed the slice of lemon could have been better. The problem was that I couldn't resist eating that to take anymore shots :D

lemon looks green! why?
the meat looks dry also i'd squeeze the lemon over it just before the shjot, even maybe include one shot when the chicken is still smoking straight from the tandoori still on the spit.
other then that great picture!

@macobee: The reason why it wasn't smokin was it was take away :D Next time, I'll try to put some artificial smoke around it.

Thanks. :)

As a food person...I cater, this is a very good food picture. I like the idea of squeezing the lime/ or lemon juice over the chicken to give it that "look"
