I always have a soft spot for 1ds cameras. Really thinking of trying a mkIII out as the used prices are quite appealing. Although the 5d3's value proposition is tempting and makes for a logical choice? What are your thoughts? I love my 1Ds 3 but, I added a 5D 3. Both will serve you well no matter which one you choose.

I feel for my stuff, 1ds3 AF is more than adequate. Vancouver Portrait Photographer

Imo, it's almost the same in weight.

airbutchie Not too crunchy More info | Dec 18, 2012 07:11 | #2420 The 5D3 AF system is OUTSTANDING... Had a chance to evaluate it for a few weeks through CPS and it was fantastic... Shot sports (surfing), product photography, and landscapes while I had it... If I didn't love the 1D-series feel and ergonomics, I'd pick up a 5D3 in a heartbeat... The previous 5Dxx iterations were great, but the AF simply fell short of expectations... Not this time around... Hi. My name is Butch...

Not this time around... In any event, if you want the new sensor and want video capabilities, a gripped 5D3 should suffice for what you shoot... Otherwise, a 1Ds3 would suit need easily... ![]() I agree. I've had a chance to test it for a short time and it's really that good. Either body will do well.
