My main purpose for this camera is landscapes. Nothing more. If you want action, go get a MK IV. :) You're such a 5D MK II fanboy Mr. Lightweight! ;)

LOL.. so many attacks for my tiny little comment, hehehe.

I'm jk man. :) Where are your shots from this crappy camera? ;) Please share.

On a side note, I'm sick of waiting for the 1Ds MK IV. I may try out that Pentax 645D or go Leica M9 if nothing happens in the next few months. :)

Yeah I know :)

I didn't warm up to the 1Ds3 right the first time. Sold it and got fed up of waiting for the 1Ds4 as well. You saw my story with the 1DIV.... So I'm back with the 1Ds3, haven't had time to get lots of shots yet. Getting ready to make a big move (job relocation). Busy-busy, will post shots in about a month, hehehe sorry.

Have fun with the Pentax or Leica, looking forward to hearing how they work out for you!

Still staying in California... Just 400 miles north to the Bay Area.

Can't wait to get some great stuff with the 1Ds3, will post soon!

Nice statue shots guys... But seriously, you could take that shot on a 5D :P Let's see some challenging action shots where the AF sets the 1Ds3 apart from other cameras.

-David

I'll let you see some action shots once I get the weekend game under it's shutter, I'm planing on giving it a fieldtest this weekend.

Or perhaps I could be in luck, and theres soccer practise tonight, hmmm.. that might be an idear ;)

One of the days I was photographing superbikes I has my 1Dkmk2 and 5D the 5D was so out of depth with focus speed, the 1Dmk2 was not Full Frame so sold both and got my 1Dsk3, best of both worlds.

The 1Dsmk3 is great for high speed focusing. Trouble I had was those RAW files. Switched to jpg to keep up.

Will get UDMA card next see if that helps. Have only got 2 4gig CF cards (older type) and the Canon M80 storage device.

Totally Agree with the high speed focusing! It's the reason why I went back to the 1Ds3 after selling it. However, even with a UDMA (60mb/sec) card; I found RAW image buffer is too small for my liking.

I know you don't like the 1.3x crop, but If you are not in super low light. You might want to try the 1DIV. It's only a few hundred more than the 1Ds3 but has a HUGE buffer in comparison.

Welcome to the 1Ds3 club! We all need to do our parts to keep this thread alive and well. Once the prices of the 1Ds3 drops more and it's more affordable; this thread will catch like a wild fire! People will finalize realize how great this old camera can be!

-David

Heh! You'd better be careful of what you wish for! I was a participant in the 5D Classic thread from its beginning in, gosh, March of '08 and during the next year or so the 5D2 came out and the Classic was already becoming a phenomenon of popularity and that just made things go crazy in that thread! It's hard to keep up there!

My 1Dsk3 cost me a 1Dmk2+5D+300F2.8+50F1.2 and $275 cash
want my lens back and some new ones.

Wow. Hehehe, now I see your point, keep that 1Ds3 and start growing your lens collection again.

I'd love to see this thread more active... Part of the fun of owning stuff is talking about it on the forums with fellow owners. But at the same time, would hate to see the price of the beloved 1Ds3 to drop below $3k. Right now, the 1Ds3 club (this thread) feels like an elite club with few members :)
