Now that I've spent some time playing with the manual settings on my camera, I'd like to try this whole critiquing thing again. :)

Mostly just looking for critique of my composition here - I've sized these down considerably so they don't take forever to upload, so if they appear to be grainy or of low quality in places, that's probably to blame.

Also, I can provide shooting information upon request, if someone would find it helpful.

Pictures look REALLY grainey. What ISO were you at? Looks like you had more than enough light to shoot at a lower ISO... Maybe your compression software.... not sure.

I'd have to choose #2 as my favorite. Best subject and composition of all the photos. Looks like a bit of yellow cast, or warming filter that could be down without. I may be mistaken....

The problem is they were saved in GIF format which allows only 256 colors.
The result is posterization and visible dithering when there is subtle variation in colors as in the case of the rose. The effect can also be seen in the other images. GIF format works best for illustrations, but for photographs (especially high quality images), the best choice is to use JPG format.

I like the bug on the rose bud in the last shot.

all look a little dull/subdued 7 I can see the graininess mentioned before.

Also, be carefull letting your cat ingest grass/plants, mine love to regurgitate them later on what used to be my nice area rug (they always seem to miss the tile though (which is over half of the floor of the house)).

Thanks to everyone! I did not know that saving files in GIF format could bring down the quality of the image so much...It's just what I've always used. Guess I'll have to get used to JPEG then! :)

Thanks again - I really appreciate it.
