Hey Folks,
Time for dumb question #4,537.....

As I understand it, the Lith Ion batteries that are used in DSLR's should be drained when you put them into storage (yes/no?). Now that I have my 40D, I'm going to keep my Rebel XT as a backup camera but I don't really see myself using it very often. Since I have 4 batteries for my XT, which up till now I've always kept fully charged, does anyone know of an easy way to discharge the batteries until I need them again? I really don't feel like just going out and shooting with the XT all day long to drain 4 batteries. What should I do...just turn the camera on and leave it sitting in a corner or something to drain the batteries?

Thanks,
Jim

My understanding is you don't want to leave Li batteries drained. Somewhere around 80% is what I've read is best. 100% and 0% are both bad. But, its just hearsay, so take it with a grain-of-salt.
