Has anyone out there ever had any experience with the Sandisk Extreme Ducati line of CF Cards? If yes, what do you think of them?Would you highly recommend them?Would it be worth getting a couple of them over the Sandisk Extreme III and IV CF Cards if Iwere using a Canon 40D camera and I shoot a lot of action sports?
Thanks.

If you're shooting with the 50D, UDMA enabled, the Ducati is second to NONE in speed. Rob Galbraith has an interesting test chart on this. I can only imagine what the new 1D series will have. The current 1dm3/1dsm3 doesn't seem to take advantage of the Ducati cards. Pretty sure that the new 5dm2 does though. Alas the ducati cards are discontinued. I have a 4 gig on hold for me...will pick it up soon.

On certain bodies that take advantage of the UDMA spec, it makes a big difference.

such as the 50D. i have a few, doesn't make a difference one a body that doesnt support UDMA such as the 40D. one type of card that i've been picking up on is the LEXAR 300X CF cards. They are really cheap right now, plus they are pretty fast.

...which means I should reverse writing RAWS to my Extreme IV CFs and sRAWS to my Extreme III sd cards.
I'll try that on Wednesday and see if it makes a noticeable difference.

50D, 1ds Mark III, Nikon D3 has UMDA enable so it will benefit from Ducati or Extreme IV (45MB/s)

Wrong. It does. With the old extreme IV (20mb/s or even 30mb/s) card, i can't view my picture right away. When i use with Ducati or Extreme IV (45MB/s), after continuous shooting from 1dsm3, i can view it right away (without few seconds delay).

The 1Ds Mark III does, the 1D Mark III does not support UDMA.

What amazed me is that with the 50D and the 4 gig Ducati card, there's extremely little "buffer" time. Shot over 200 RAWs, at iso100 .. no problems. My 1Dm3 would require far more buffer time.

It was almost a continuous sequence with the 50D and the Ducati. Nice stuff!

The 1Dsm3 needs a bit longer buffer time. Yes, it's UDMA enabled, but doesn't seem to crank out the data nearly as fast as the 50D/Digic 4 combo. I also realized that it's 15.1mp vs 21.1mp, but still...that little 50D amazes me!

It would be interesting to see what the next generation of 1D cameras will bring with the Digic 4. :)

An Extreme III 30mb version would be best.

I knew I was going to get the 50D so I got the 8GB Ducati cards during the last round of rebates and they are blazing fast. Pretty interesting that they are even faster than the new 45 mb/s Extreme IV cards.

Be sure and get a fast reader. I have an Extreme III reader for CF, SD, and Memory Stick. It is awesome fast. I bet the firewire Extreme IV readers are even faster but they cost a ton more.
