Just wondering if there is anything similar to Smugmug for selling pictures like thier Pro Account allows for.

Thanks,

Angus

Can't answer that as I just signed on for the Pro level and it's been amazing. I think that's why we use it for the book here. And the people who run it are forum members and are always doing great stuff for us.

Just a bit pricey if i dont expect to make masses of profit from it.

I shoot for free mostly, but set up the account for those mass events I shoot. I haven't made that much money, but just having to print out the pictures and send them out, saves me so much time. $149 isn't that bad for a year. I think if you say POTN on the friend thing, you get a discount.

Search for the member who is a partner there at Smugmug and talk to him directly. Let me check that out for you.

Exposure Manager charges $99 a year. Discounts are available. They take 10% but that includes handling the credit card transactions so you don't have bank fees or fees from the CC companies. On their site, they have a comparison of the major sites that do this type of thing. Another good thing is that you can remove their name from your site, this includes the small "powered by" that most sites have. Their printing is the best you will find.

Follow the links Frank provided... Or simply scroll down the postings page 12 or 13 posts, to the identical question we answered yesterday, entitled "Online sales: Which site to use?".

Smugmug is great and I have nothing but raves about them. There are a lot of good tutorials out there specifically geared towards smugmug and HTML. Try dgrin forum for how to make smugmug your own. Use the referral below to save some money.

Have fun!

I'm in the same boat. I am trying to "pick an online host" to sell images. Problem is... most images require post processing. But, most images are not purchased. So, what are you gonna do? Post process 200 images and sell 3 of those online to a mom who asked you to get some shots of "little johnny"? Like Tim stated several times on those other posts, he said you'd have to post process ALL those files, in hopes of selling one. So, at this point, I think it's best to spend $280 and buy Photo Cart from Pictures Pro. One time $280 and the owner of the company told me that he would install it on your website for $30! Then, you can shoot 200 shots of little johnny, upload them "as is" (proofs), let mommy pick out what she wants and place her order online, the order comes into your email, then you locate those images on your pc, post process them, crop to size, and upload to your lab. That way, you don't have to pay any fees (membership fees, etc.), you get to pick your own lab, and you don't have to post process 200 (or more) shots in hopes that you sell 1.
