Newbie question!

Hi,

I am new to this forum, so glad to have found it! I have a chance to get a free canon digital camera with some credit card points but am confused as to what to choose. I am looking at the sd 870. I will be taking pictures mostly of my children. Definitely like the large lcd screen. Any advice? Thanks!

Since its been a while and no one answered you, I'll give it a go. If I should recommend a bad camera please forgive me.

First off, any modern P&S cameras are capable of giving you a nice enough pictures. So what ever you choose (given this is canon forum, and you are choosing a canon) it is safe to say that it is decent enough. I personally like the AXXX series. They are a bit bulkier and offer a bit more control as I like. That is if you like that kind of thing. My cousin has one of these little tiny canon (model ??) and it produces nice pictures too. Unless you want to go the most expensive route (S5 IS og G9) than you will need no say from us - they are the best of the breed - for now - .
