We don't need another choice. We, as in the members of this site who already have canon gear. This camera is aimed at the market for an upgrade from a point and shoot at the lowest cost.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

WE don't need another choice of camera.

It's canon who needs to repackage the same sensor, call it a different camera and make it "new"

Simple realities of marketing, society and consumer education/brainwashing: Everybody wants the latest and greatest.

Canon can't invent conceptually NEW stuff all the time, so it repackages the old and charges more. Same with automobiles and the "new" yearly models, even though the internal combustion engine didn't change much for the last century.

National Sarcasm Society. Like we need your support.

It is a bridge camera, between the P&S with its shutter lag, and the nnnD camera bodies (Rebel/XTi/XSi/400D)450D. Other manufacturers made Zoom-lens-reflex (ZLR) as the bridge, Canon one-upped them with a camera that is not stuck with a fixed zoom lens.

Canon dSLR system, Olympus OM 35mm system, Bronica ETRSi 645 system, Horseman LS 4x5 system, Metz flashes, Dynalite studio lighting, and too many accessories to mention

It isn't another choice of camera because nobody in their right mind would choose it save for financial reasons
