My daughters dance concert

Here are a few of the shots I liked from my daughters dance concert. It was really difficult to get good stuff, as I was about 15 rows back from the front, and no flash was allowed. No Photoshopping has been done... just ran noisware over them.

Btw, these were taken before I had the 70-200L f2.8 IS

Ok, all sorted I think... if your having trouble seeing the pics, or they show too large, can you please post a response. It looks like the Pbase servers are not generating the alternate images sizes properly.

Yup. These are excellent!! I love number 1 quite a bit. Outstanding.

This is another one from the same concert... I ike it, but I have no idea what to do to it in photoshop. I know that its grainy and there is quite a bit of motion, but the colour is representative of what was actually displayed....

Any suggestions?

Oooh, I love the movement in the last shot! It's my fave of all of them. Quite spooky and lovely.

How in the world did you shoot 1/10 and not get any blurr????

The short answer is... with great difficulty

But all this will hopefully improve with the new IS lense.

I set up my light weight travel tripod with 2 legs extended out next to mine, and the third stuck right up hard in my crotch - basically so that I was partially sitting against it. This made it quite a steady platform. I then had to try and time the shots so that the subject was at the completion of their movement ie. when they stopped moving one way there was a brief pause before they started moving back the other way.

Ontop of that, I took about 700mb of photos in an hour and a bit, with ALOT of rejects. Plus there were numerous deletions on the night.
