I was promised $1.00 for each posting I make. That' why I've been trying to crank up my count...so that I can get me that new 1Ds mkII that I've been lusting for. ???

Hey, I want my money!

Actually they pay 82% of nothing, whereas Danes apparently pay 2x nothing, plus VAT. At least Canadians can smuggle nothing over the border, whereas Europeans have to ship it through customs and get hit with VAT charges.

I'd like to know when Canon became an american company. I'd hope that the japanese pay less? Do they?

Canadians don't pay nothing because no-one wants our dollar:lol:

Every out of country travel/purchase is in US$. Can't understand why anyone would conterfit our money, wasted effort.

Back on topic...............

Control is very important. You must have complete control over your spending habits so you can justify all the money you spent due to this forums' advice. Justified spending is not the same as splurging on the want to have stuff.

If you can justify it to yourself at the time, run with what you got:lol:

This forum has been fairly inexpensive to me, in fact it has saved me money.

Picked up the DO from here and saved at least C$400, same with a couple of filters. May have spent money, (C$2,400?) but saved money too:)

Some of the advice has sent me in the right direction, and saved me time and money.

So Pekka, what ever happened to the idea of donating to you for your service? I think 1% of sales or savings generated would help?:D

Actually, the Japanese end up paying more for their own goods than anybody else. That's why you don't see too many people rushing to Japan to buy those Canon goodies. I have a couple of relatives in Japan so you can be sure that if they were cheaper there I'd have most of my stuff from there, too. :D

Is it still classed as spending if you get 12 months interest free credit? ;)

Only on the 13th month when you get hit with all the interest you've accumulated over the last 12 month months because you were so busy taking pictures with your new photo toys that you completely forgot about paying back the cc company.

What a great thread and I have NO idea what you are talking about.

Hmmmm.....let me see. 1D mkii, 20 D, 300 2.8, 100-400L, 75-300IS, 2x 580EX, 70-200 2.8L IS, 24-70 2.8L, 28-135 IS, 50 1.8, 50 1.4, 100 2.8 Macro, 100-300 USM, 28-105 USM, and probably a few others. Over the years, the list is too long to remember including 2 28-70 2.8 lenses and a 70-200USM. I've also owned: AE-1, AE-1 Program, A-1, T-70, 2x 630, 1N, 1V HS, and probably more. And all the goodies that went with those. Oh, and there were also a D30, D60, 2x 1D, and a 1Ds.

Let's talk Hasselblad for a while. And then there's Pentax medium format. But at least I sold both systems when they were still worth something. I got most of my money out of the Hassy.

Oh, let's also not forget my Graflex cameras. I have a Crown Graphic 4x5 and a Speed Graphic 4x5 (currently being restored by the fella that used to run Graflex's western division). Actually, except for an old A-1 (picked up cheap) those are the only film cameras I still use. Er, except for a pair of Polaroid 600 SE cameras with 2 127mm 4.7 lenses and a 150 5.6.

I think that covers it all.....

Thanks for stopping in and having a look.
Prints of my work are available for purchase. Please contact me offline or thru PM if you are interested.
