I see that the INT 207 doesn't include the gels or the grid for the same price as the INT 210 ($34.95). Yeah, what to do...

The INT207, imo, doesn't fit very well on the Genesis. Need to rig up something to make it a little tighter. The set screw barely makes its way to the reflector.

Poop.

I ordered my INT210 barndoors for my stock Genesis reflectors, with the intention of using them in a photoshoot this weekend. They arrived very quickly, and I had them at home last night.

Tonight I go to fit them on my reflector and find I'm missing the metal retaining clip that would lock them in place. THe only thing holding them to the reflector are the two shallow plastic hooks - I don't feel safe using it like that, as people ave reported they can melt with heat (even with the model lights off).

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can secure this until BHPhoto send me the missing piece / replace the item? I'll have to rethink the shoot without it :(

If all you're missing is the tightening screw, I'd just go to a hardware store and find a replacement. Not sure what the thread count is, but I'm sure it's a relatively standard screw. Should cost you all of 15 minutes and 10 cents.

The model I got doesn't appear to be held on with a screw - it looks like there are two plastic hooks, at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock, then mounts for a metal bar / spring / clip at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock.

I'm missing that bar.

I've emailed BH PHoto, but they close at weekends, so I'm having to rethink.

Dave or anyone, do you still like these? I want these for my Elinchrom 8.25" reflectors and Eli ones are way too much ;)

I use the 7" reflector and the Interfit RB4001 barn doors.

Great combination.

Old threads never die, do they Peter?

At their $39 price including grid and filters, only the Grinch would complain about the Interfit barn door set. They work well enough and my set hasn't fallen apart. That said, you have to remember that the INT210 is mostly plastic, is a tight fit on an Elinchrom 8.25" reflector, and that it relies on molded plastic clips for attachment. I seem to remember one or two cases of the attachment clips softening and failing under the head of modeling lights. Use the modeling lights judiciously and take care not to overstress the mounting hooks and the unit works fine.

If you also own a 7" reflector, the Interfit RB4001 all metal barn door unit (brought to our collective attention by Leo/PacAce) is probably a better choice. That one doesn't come with the grid and filters but it also won't melt on you.

thx Dave for the reply, yeah your image from this thread comes up when you google Elinchrom barndoor ;)

I'll likely get the INT210 and use them judiciously like you said since I only have the 8.25" reflectors. The Eli barn doors are way too much and I won't be using them that much.

There are several manufacturers that make leaves that clip on to the lip or rim of standard reflectors. They come in many sizes and depending on the application, a set of 2 large leaves can be very effective.

Has anyone tried the 207's on an Elinchrom reflector?

I have a "leftover" Adoram Flashpoint barndoor that works for 8" Elinchom reflector. It's all metal construct. However I don't see that listed in their website anymore. They do have a similar one (metal construct) for 7" and they mention that it will fit Elinchrom on their website.

I don't know what you consider inexpensive but this is an example of a set of large leaves that can be used on any reflector from 7 to 10" wide.

If you search for barn doors and sift through the pages you'll find many of these types of leaves from many manufacturers and various prices.
