A spot of recent cricket, boxing and, believe it or not, football.

We'll start with some boxing thwunk...

I like shooting boxing, but the lighting around here is really bad. The football shot is super!

Beauts all! Especially nice job handling a tough exposure on number 4.

Great stuff, Gavin! Good catch on the bails, too!

Thanks Big H! Hope you find some better boxing lighting soon... in the UK, it's OK to shoot amateur (and some pro) bouts with flash but your luck may vary by region. Here's an example...

I wish I had even an elementary understanding of cricket. The boxing and football shots lead me to believe I would probably have an even better appreciation of those shots than just the technical and compositional aspects.

Your perspiration gives me inspiration. Thanks, as always, for sharing.

Love the 'Geezers Palace' shorts in # 6.

Delightfully exposed... not a blown highlight to be found. I can only image a mid summer match under summer sun with all them wearing their whites. Great stuff amigo. Cheers.

Great work as always Gavin. Good job you weren't framed too tight on #5 as those bails really went flying!!

Thanks very much manutd101!

Have to say that I find shooting backlit can make the exposure easier to handle than for front-lit subjects, particularly when the sun is harsh.

Ta Frank! To be honest the bails flying shot is pretty easy to capture if (a) you get in the right position and (b) you stay awake :)

Great photos.
How many frames are you taking per ball and is this for every ball during the match? Raw or jpeg? You must get though a lot of memory cards!

Nothing decent enough to brag about :D
